CharDham Yatra with Hemkund

Day 1: Delhi – Haridwar ( 220 kms / 5 – 6 hrs ) Pick up from Delhi, later proceed to Haridwar and 

check-in to the hotel upon arrival. Evening, attend Ganga aarti at Har ki Pauri. You can also visit 

Mansa Devi Temple, Chandi Devi, Daksh Prajapati Temple (If Time allows). Dinner and 

Overnight stay in Haridwar. Haridwar – Being a place of intense religious significance, Haridwar 

also hosts several religious festivals throughout the year; popular among them are the Kavad 

Mela, Somvati Amavasya Mela, Ganga Dashara, Gughal Mela, in which around 20-25 lacs (2-

2.5 million) people take part. Apart from these, there is the mammoth Kumbh Mela which takes 

place once in every twelve years, when the planet Jupiter (Brihaspati) comes into the sign 

Aquarius (Kumbha).Haridwar Weather – The temperature during the summer months ranges from 25 C – 45 C, while in the winter months (Sept – Oct – Nov) the temperature varies within 20 C

 

DAY 2: Haridwar - Barkot ( 210 kms / 7 – 9 hrs ) 3 Sep 23

Morning after breakfast check-out from the hotel between 7:00 – 8:00 AM and 

proceed to Barkot via Mussoorie. En-route experience the beauty of Kempty 

falls. On arrival check-in to the hotel in Barkot. Overnight stay with dinner.

Barkot Weather - Generally pleasant in summer, the temperature ranges from 20 - 30 degree 

Celsius, Winter: (Sept – Oct – Nov) The Days are pleasantly cool but the nights are cold, 

temperature ranges from 10 - 25 degree Celsius.

 

Day 3 : Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot (30 kms drive / 6 kms trek)Early morning at 5 AM, drive to 

Jankichatti / Phoolchatti & start the trek to Yamunotri Temple (6kms) (Can take horse or by Doli 

at your own cost). After taking bath in Jamunabai Kund’s taptkund (Hot water spring) and have 

the darshan of Yamunotri Ji And Divya Shila. Later trek down to Jankichatti & drive to Barkot. 

Dinner & Overnight stay at Barkot. Yamunotri Temple – Maharani Gularia of Jaipur built the 

temple in the 19th Century. It was destroyed twice in the present century and rebuilt again. At 

Yamunotri, one can cook rice by packing it in a cloth and dipping it in the hot water of the Tapt 

kund. Pilgrims take this cooked rice home as “Prasad”. Here near the temple “Pooja” can be 

offered to Divya Shila.Surya Kund – There are a Number of thermal springs near temple, which 

flows into numerous pools. The most important of these is Surya Kund.Divya Shila – A rock

pillar, worshipped before entering the Yamunotri Temple.Yamunotri Weather – In summer the 

maximum temp is 18 degree Celsius. And the minimum is 10 degrees Celsius. The days are 

pleasantly cool but the nights are cold.

 

Day 4 : Barkot – Uttarkashi ( 170 kms / 6 – 7 hrs)Morning after breakfast, checkout from the 

hotel between 7 AM to 8 AM &drive to Uttarkashi. On arrival, check-in at the hotel in Uttarkashi. 

Visit Shiv Gufa (prakteshwar Cave, Kashi Vishwanath Temple & Uttarkashi market. Dinner & 

Overnight stay at Uttarkashi. Uttarkashi – is home to a number of ashrams, temples. The name 

of the town reflects its similarity to and location (as north of) the city of Kashi (Varanasi). Similar 

to Varanasi, town of Uttarkashi is also situated on the banks of River Ganga 

(Bhagirathi).Vishwanath temple – Vishwanath temple is one of the oldest Shiva temples in 

Northern India. Re-constructed in 1857 by Maharani Khaneti Devi of Tehri State in the ancient 

architectural style. It is situated at the heart of the town. A massive iron trident, symbolic of 

divine mother’s, is erected and worshiped from time immemorial at the temple complex. 

Ganeshji, Sakshi Gopal, Markandeya Rishi’s small shrines are also part of the temple complex. 

AkhandJyoti as well as Akhand Abhishek, special Aarti at morning and evening are offered. As 

per SkundaPuran, Uttarkashi is known as ‘Saumya Varanasi’, the abode of Lord Shiva in Kaliyug 

and counted as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas.Shakti temple – Right in front of the Vishwanath 

temple is Shakti temple. It has a big ‘Trishul’ of about 6 meters in height and a circumference of 

90 cms. At bottom. Though there are different views about the making of this, the upper part of 

it seems to be made up of iron and the lower one is of copper. As per the epics this Shakti was 

thrown on the devils by the Goddess Durga(Shakti), hence it gets its name. Since then this 

Shakti is erected over here.Uttarkashi Weather - Generally hot in summer, the temperature 

ranges from 30-35 degree Celsius but nights are pleasant, Cold in winters.

 

Day 5: Uttarkashi – Gangotri – Uttarkashi (100 kms / 3 – 4 hrs each side)Early morning start the 

drive to Gangotri sharp at 5 AM, en-route at Gangnanione can take a holy dip in Tapt Kund (Hot 

Spring) & further drive to Gangotri via beautiful Harsil Valley and Bhairo Ghati. On arrival at 

Shree Gangotri Temple, take a holy dip in the sacred river Ganges which is also called Bhagirathi 

at its origin. Perform Pooja and Darshan, after that relax for some time in the lovely Divine 

surroundings like Surya Kund. Later drive back to Uttarkashi. Dinner & Overnight stay at 

Uttarkashi. Gangotri Temple – The temple was constructed by the Gorkha General Amar Singh 

Thapa in the 18th Century on the right bank of river Bhagirathi. Harsil Valley – Harsil is famous 

for its natural beauty and for the majestic views of the Deodar trees and mountains.Gangotri 

Weather- The maximum temperature during summer can go up to 20° Celsius. Summer nights 

can get cooler with a minimum temperature of 10° Celsius. Woollen clothes are required while 

visiting Gangotri during summer. Winter season (Sept – Oct – Nov) is very Pleasant around 15 

Degree Celsius

 

Day 6: Uttarkashi – Guptkashi (230 kms / 9 – 10 hrs)Morning after breakfast, drive to Guptkashi 

around 8 AM via Moolgarh &Lambgoan. En-route you can see the beautiful River Mandakini at 

Tilwara. The Mandakini, river comes from Kedarnath, drive alongside the river to reach 

Guptakashi, visit Ardh Narishwar Temple in Guptakashi. Check into the hotel arrival in Guptkashi. 

Dinner & Overnight stay at in the hotel.Guptakashi – The name Gupt Kashi means “Hidden

Benares. Mythology describes how the Pandava brothers were searching for a glimpse of Shiva, 

Shivji first concealed himself at Guptkashi, but later fled from there further up the valley to 

Kedarnath, where the Pandavasfinally got their wish fulfilled. There are more tangible 

connections as well-the Kedarnath pandas (priests) live in Guptkashi during the winter months, 

and after the Kedarnath temple closes for the winter, the image of Kedarnath passes through 

Gupt Kashi on its way to Ukhimath (across the valley), where it stays for the winter.Guptkashi 

Weather – Pleasant in summer, the temperature ranges from 25-30 degree Celsius. Slightly Cold 

in winters.

 

Day 7 : Guptkashi – KedarnathProceed for Kedarnath Darshan. Visit Gaurikund, Kedarnath 

Temple, Sankracharya Samadhi, Bhim Shila, Bhairo Baba, Gupt Kund.By Trek :-- Early morning 

check-out at 3 AM from the Hotel and drive to Sonprayag and catch the government jeep over 

there for GauriKund (6 Kms / Charges Rs. 30/-). From there start the trek to Shri Kedarnath Ji. 

After 17kms / 6- 8 hrs trek reach at Kedarnath Ji, have darshan and perform Pooja. Overnight 

Stay at Kedarnath Ji or can return back and stay at Sitapur. Kedarnath – The Kedarnath shrine, 

one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a scenic spot situated, against the backdrop of the 

majestic Kedarnath range. Kedar is another name of Lord Shiva. According to legend, the 

Pandavas after having won over the Kaurava in the Kurukshetra war, felt guilty of having killed 

their own brothers and sought the blessings of Lord Shiva for redemption. He eluded them 

repeatedly and while fleeing took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. On being followed he 

dived into the ground, leaving his hump on the surface. The remaining portions of Lord Shiva 

appeared at four other places and are worshipped there as his manifestations. The arms 

appeared at Tungnath, the face at Rudranath, the belly at Madhmaheshwar and his locks (hair) 

with head at Kalpeshwar. Kedarnath and the four abovementioned shrines are treated as 

PanchKedar.Kedarnath Weather – Due to its high altitude the weather in Kedarnath remains cold 

for most part of the year. Summer here is cool and pleasant while winter is severe cold. During 

summer season the temperature varies around 5 – 10°Celsius. Heavy woollen wear is 

recommended. Winter season in Kedarnath is severe with mercury falling to as low as 2° - 10 

degree Celsius. During this time the place experiences snowfall as well.

 

Day 8 : Kedarnath – Sitapur / Guptkashi By Trek :-- Early morning start the trek again and reach 

Gaurikund. Further drive to Guptkashi for the Overnight Stay.Ukhimath – is small town located in 

Rudraprayag district.Ukhimath was the land where the wedding of Usha and Anirudh, grandson 

of Lord Krishna was solemnized. It is also a famous pilgrimage center and known for its ancient 

temples dedicated to Usha, Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Aniruddha and Mandhata. UtsavDoli of 

Lord Kedarnath and Madhyamaheswar are 

Brought to Ukhimath during winter and worshiped for six months. The temple also holds year 

round pujas of Lord Omkareshwar. Situated on the road connecting Guptkashi with Gopeshwar, 

the holy town is mainly inhabited by the priests of Kedarnath temple known as Rawals.

 

Day 9: Guptkashi – Badrinath (180 KM – 8-9 Hr)Morning 6 AM check-out the hotel from 

Guptkashi and proceed to Badrinath (180 kms / 8-9hrs). En-route visit Ukhimath Omkareshwar 

Temple (Winter adobe of Kedarnath and Madmaheshwar Ji), chopta Valley and Narsing Temple 

(Divya desam and winter abode of Shree Badrinath Ji) at Joshimath. On arrival pilgrims can have

a bath in the Tapt kund and the Darshan of Badrinath Ji, Kuber Ji, Hanuman Ji, Laxmi Ji And & 

Can Attend the evening Aarti. Dinner & Overnight stay at Badrinath. Badrinath – one of the 

‘Ancient Four Dhams’ is one of the most celebrated pilgrimage spots of the country and is 

situated at an elevation of 3300 meters, guarded on either side by the two mountain ranges 

known as Nar & Narayan with the towering Neelkanth Peak providing a splendid backdrop. This 

revered spot was once carpeted with wild berries. Thus, the place got the name “Badri van”, 

meaning “forest of berries”. Tapt Kund – Natural thermal springs on the bank of the river 

Alaknanda, where it is customary to bath before entering the Badrinath temple. Badrinath 

Weather – The average maximum temperature will be around 18° Celsius and the average 

minimum is 8° Celsius. Warm and woolen clothes are hence required for a stay in Badrinath 

throughout the year. Winter in Badrinath is often accompanied by snow falls. Winter is very chilly 

with an average temperature of 5° Celsius. Due to the extreme climatic conditions, this time is 

usually closed for tourists.

 

Day 10 : Badrinath –Mana Village – Ghangariya    Morning after 

darshan of Badrinath & breakfast, check-out from the hotel &Badrinath Local sightseeing spot 

like Mana, Bhim Pool, Vyas Gufa, Ganesh Gufa, Maatamoorti Temple, Chhatrapal Temple, 

Charanpaduka, Narad kund and the origin of the Saraswati River. Just within the three kms of Badrinath ji.

 Later drive to Morning after breakfast, check-out from the hotel & transfer to Pulna Village, starting point for trek to Ghangharia via Govind Ghat. On arrival, start the trek of 10 Kms passing through mesmerizing scenic beauty across the white-water river called Laxman Ganga. The trek will take around 7 Hrs to reach Ghangharia (Altitude-10000 Feet). On arrival, dinner & overnight stay in Ghangharia.

 

Day 11 Ghangharia- Hemkund.- Ghangharia(4 km trek one side)

 Early morning trek to Hemkunt Sahib (as early as possible). The trek is although stiff but beautiful. After trekking up for approx. 4 hrs, will reach at World’s highest gurudwara named ‘Hemkunt Sahib’. Take holy dip in half frozen hemkund & take the blessing at Gurudwara & participate in Lunger. Visit Laxman Temple (One of few temples of Laxman Ji) also. Leave the place before 2 PM & trek down to Ghangharia for dinner & overnight stay

 

Day 12 : Day 5 Ghangharia- Govindghat.- Rudraprayag/Srinagar – Kholachauri (Pauri-Devprayag Road)

Early morning after breakfast, trek down for Govindght

  for . Kholachauri (Pauri-Devprayag Road)  En-route visit Dhari Devi Temple, Dev Prayag, Raghunath 

Temple (Divya desam) &  On arrival check-in at the hotel for Overnight stay in Kholachauri (Pauri-Devprayag Road)

 

Day 13 : Kholachauri (Pauri-Devprayag Road) – Rishikesh  -  After morning breakfast, check-out from the 

hotel, proceed to  Rishikesh . chek in hotel in Rishkesh

Evening attend the Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat Rishikesh – Named after the Lord 

Vishnu, Rishikesh is a holy city for Hindus. Located in the foothills of the Himalaya in northern India it is also known as the yoga center of the world and is home to many world-renowned ashrams. Rishikesh styles itself as the ‘Yoga Capital of the World’, with masses of ashrams and all kinds of yoga and meditation classes. The fast-flowing Ganges is surrounded by forested hills inside the city. Apart from temples and ashrams Rishikesh is now a popular for white-water rafting.

Day 14 : Rishikesh  – Delhi ( 280 kms / 6 – 7hrs ) After morning breakfast, check-out from the hotel, proceed to end the divine trip to Delhi. In Rute have time visit Akshar Dham Temple Dehli, On arrival final drop at the guest place for the onwards journey.
